This shopping centre was developed between 1996 to 1999 by Sonae Inmobiliaria and ING Real Estate (joint venture 50-50) and was opened on April 21, 1999.
Vasco da Gama is located on the EXPO area and has been perfoming extremely well, attracting large numbers of visitors since its openineg (over 22 milion in 2000). Vasco da Gama is a large centre, with a GLA of 47,611 square metres. Its conceptual design by BDP is based on the pattern of a ship. Its main anchor tenants are Continente hypermarket, Warner Lusomundo cinemas, ZARA, Cortefiel, Mango, Worten and C&A.
