Amphitheatre New District / Zac Amphithéâtre
Other sites
This mixed urban planning initiative backed by a consortium of real estate developers ranks as one of the largest urban development projects in the east of France and aims to breathe new life into the innovative Amphitheatre district located south of the SNCF railway station.
Mixed Project (Offices, Houses, Retail)
The site is ideally located next to the main central railway station in the heart of the city. The main central railway station hosts the new TGV (speed train) eastern line in 2007. The line runs between Paris East Station and Frankfurt. It takes 86 minutes to reach Metz from Paris.
The project is undergoing phase 1of a large 270,000 m2 urban regeneration program, which consists of the construction of a mixed development that will regroup various retail, residential and office activities in 3 plots (A2, B2 and B3).
Partnership: 7 operators
The Mayor of Metz has chosen to work with the two teams and decided to give the leadership of the project to ING RED, which is in charge of the whole team and which will deliver the project within the agreed specifications made with the city of Metz.
Metz is a large city of 350,000 inhabitants (including its suburbs) and is located in the north-east of France near the Luxembourg and German borders. It is slowly leaving its heavy industrial past behind, and progress is being made in the service industry. The local authorities have created an urban development zone (ZAC) in order to attract private developers and investors. The city has already built a sport arena, a large public park, an art museum (an annex of the Paris Centre Pompidou Museum) and a congress hall - both around a large public square, equipped with an underground car park.
