Located at the confluence of the Rhône and Saône rivers, right in the heart of Lyon, the Perrache peninsula, a former industrial and transport centre, is being transformed into an exciting new mix of residential, office, cultural, leisure and retail activity. Due to be completed in 2009, the redevelopment of the area will create a vibrant location where residents and visitors can pursue numerous activities which will be available in The Monolith, a creative design scheme by Le Grand Lyon, while enjoying Lyon’s scenic and historic waterfront. This visionary new project, which is part of a larger development effort incorporating parks, gardens and green belts that started in 1999, will bring new life to the former industrial area and create inner-city space which will bustle with new activity. A landmark component of the project will be the Musée des Confluences, which will celebrate Lyon’s unique riverfront heritage.
Working with SEM Lyon Confluence, a company created by the city of Lyon for the project execution and management, and numerous other stakeholders, ING Real Estate in partnership with Atemi is contributing its considerable experience successfully developing such mixed-use urban projects. With its strategic and central location along the rivers and just south of the Perrache railway station, La Confluence offers ING Real Estate a myriad of opportunities to use its development expertise to create a vital mixed-use space in the heart of Lyon where future residents and visitors can thrive.
