Holland America Line (HAL) plans to return to Rotterdam in March to establish its European head office in ING Real Estate’s Montevideo building on Wilhelmina Pier.
The announcement was made by the Mayor of Rotterdam, Ivo Opstelten, in his New Year’s speech. HAL, the famous Rotterdam shipping company moved its Rotterdam headquarters, currently Hotel New York, to Stamford in the USA in 1978 and to Seattle in 1983. The shipping company is moving back to Rotterdam to compete in the European cruise market.
