On 20 April 2006, during an informal meeting with all parties involved, the official start has been given for promotion of the Centre Amsterdam North area with the slogan: CAN, Kan makkelijk!
In May and June, a first media campaign will be responsible for creating familiarity of the name CAN amongst the big public. Several means of media will be created like posters, brochures, campaign boards, freecards and a commercial on local broadcoasting station AT5. As of mid May, a new website will be launched.
Plans CAN
The plans for CAN are existing of a large-scale extension of shopping centre Boven ‘t Y, realisation of 3,300 residences and addition of offices, leisure, parking garages and other facilities. The main target of this campaign is to give the inhabitants of Amsterdam North what they are waiting for. CAN distinguishes itself by comfortable and easily living, working and shopping, optimal accessiblity, a complete supply of shops and facilities and enough public parks and space. Important boosters are the future terminus of the north-south line and a new regional bus station.
ING Real Estate Development is responsible for developing a large part of these functions among which the extension of the existing shopping centre. Other parties involved are the municipality of Amsterdam, quarter Amsterdam-north and the developing consortium CZAN.
