Important step forward in plans for extensions to Nieuwegein city centre

Pi de Bruijn of De Architecten Cie. and Liesbeth van der Pol of Atelier Zeinstra Van der Pol, both of Amsterdam, will design the extensions to the shopping centre in the Nieuwegein inner city.
The design consists of approximately 35,000 m² commercial property (partially replacing existing shops) and approximately 240 residential units. The architects were selected by development syndicate Stadshart Nieuwegein CV (a partnership between ING Real Estate Development and Multi Vastgoed previously AM Vastgoed) in consultation with the investor, Corio, and the Nieuwegein municipality and its Quality team. The architects have meanwhile initiated the preliminary design phase. The design will be ready in spring 2006.
