Description

The Head of Human Resources will lead the human resources team and collaborate with senior management in the organizational aspects of managing the firm.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interact as the primary interface with the Head of Human Resources for ING Real Estate Investment Management and, as appropriate, with others within the ING parent company with respect to human resource matters.
  • Provide vision for the human resources function. Align practices and programs with the business needs of the firm.
  • Work constructively with the Operating Committee and with senior executives from the three principal businesses (ING Clarion Partners, ING Clarion Capital and ING Clarion Real Estate Securities).
  • Diligently execute approved programs and provide timely feedback to the Executive Board on all human resources matters.
  • Develop and lead strategies and practices to recruit, assess, hire, and retain premier talent at all levels within the firm.
  • As an ongoing practice, evaluate the company’s human resources activities to confirm their relevance and appropriateness, and ensure that the department is staffed efficiently for the size and nature of the business of the firm.
  • Maintain knowledge of current “best in class” human resources practices and implement throughout the firm to the extent appropriate and cost justified.
  • Be aware of current compensation and benefits trends, particularly those in the real estate industry and share that knowledge through the organization.
  • Work closely with the senior management team to quantify, develop and implement compensation plans that are innovative, competitive, and compelling at both the executive and staff levels.
  • Annually assess the firm’s current organizational structures, and recommend improvements, as appropriate.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable human resources laws and regulations, and with the policies and procedures mandated by ING Real Estate and/or ING Group.

Prerequisites

The successful candidate should possess a minimum of 10 years of broad human resources experience in organizations that are recognized as exemplifying best practices in HR.  Additionally, the candidate should possess the following:

  • Prior experience managing an HR department or substantial functional area of HR.
  • Ability to translate company goals into specific human resources programs and practices that add value to a firm and its stakeholders
  • Proven track record of excellence in people management: recruiting, assessing, hiring, growing and retaining talent
  • Expertise in the design and implementation of compensation and benefits plans
  • Proven ability to interface with senior management
  • Compelling leadership skills that will resonate with employees at all levels within the firm
  • Significant intellect with analytical and problem-solving skills.  Individual must be a strategic thinker as well as an implementer
  • Impeccable integrity

Educational Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree required
  • MBA or graduate degree preferred

Technical Skills

  • Microsoft Office, Advanced Excel
  • PeopleSoft HR 8.9 or equivalent version

Additional

  • Moderate amount of domestic and international travel required
