Ted Stratis - Director of the Information Management Office

I’ve worked in the industry for quite some years now and I really appreciate the way ING Real Estate uses technology to support the business.  I started my career in the US with ING Clarion Partners where I really enjoyed the ‘family’ approach. It was exciting being a part of a larger organization while working in a close-knit team.

Unusual background

My background and experience are somewhat unusual: I have a degree in Electrical Engineering with a major in Computer Hardware Design and a minor in Accounting.  I worked in Financial Services while studying and then moved into Commercial Real Estate when I graduated.

Originally hired as an Applications Manager I was able to develop my team into a leading technology group within the industry.  In the course of implementing global applications for the investment management business, I travelled to the UK, the Netherlands, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, China, and Hong Kong.  Recently I moved to the Netherlands and am now Director of the Information Management Office, where I’m responsible for implementing a programme which will provide ING Real Estate with a global IT platform. I’ve since travelled to Australia and Japan as well.

Matching technical solutions to business needs

I’ve had to learn how to work with people from all over the world and to understand and benefit from cultural differences.  I’ve also learned to be more patient. What I love most about my job is matching technical solutions to business needs, thinking about what the future has in store and working out how best to deliver the right solutions. It’s exciting to be engaged with a group of professionals who are all working towards the same goals.  And there’s no better feeling than having my business colleagues tell me ‘that was a job well done’. 

The culture in the company is one of people with a creative, entrepreneurial spirit who are driven to improve the business. This is a great group of people who work hard and also know how to enjoy themselves.
