Remco Brand - Financial Reporting Manager

What attracted me the most about ING Real Estate was the international environment, the company culture and the wide range of job opportunities. For the past year or so I’ve been working for Corporate Control and Reporting at the Head office in The Hague.

I started my career with one of the Big Four audit companies, auditing the books of mostly large international companies. I now manage a team of four who are responsible for monthly consolidation of the financial results of the hundreds of companies that are part of ING Real Estate. We consolidate, analyse and report to ING Group and also take care of the Annual Report and reporting to regulators and tax authorities.

This is a real estate company, but it’s also part of a bank (ING bank), so I had to learn how a bank works. I need to have up-to-date knowledge of all the financial reporting and internal control requirements of IFRS, USGAAP, SOX and Basell II. It’s also very important to be able to explain the requirements to the other financial departments within the company, so good communication skills are essential.
