Huub van der Post - Developer

I was initially attracted a company that’s big enough to be the world’s largest real estate company but small enough to identify with the goals of the people working for it. What’s more, we deliver very tangible products, especially in the development part of the business.

My various roles

My first job was at headquarters in research for Real Estate Development. I was involved in market studies and strategic plans as well as market research for development locations. Then I became Project Manager of Managing for Value, a programme set up to introduce a value creation mindset within Real Estate Development, travelling to all ten of our offices in Europe and creating a tool which provides insight into our financial performance. 

I have a degree in Economics and I’ve been working for the ING Group for nine years now as a financial specialist. For the past four years I’ve been with the Real Estate business and I’m now moving from the financial back office to the front office as a developer. I will be responsible for developing residential projects in the Netherlands.

What I believe to be our culture

The culture within ING Real Estate is open, ambitious, and international. Basically, I need communication skills and an ability to come up with real estate solutions. I’ve had to learn to think out of the box and not be afraid of making mistakes.

You meet a lot of people in your daily work and you get involved in extremely interesting real estate projects. I love interacting with internal as well as external clients.  What gives me most satisfaction is meeting deadlines within a team and driving through Europe to see many of the successful development projects we’ve realised.
