Getz Entertainment Center wins prestigious EG Retail & Future Project Award

The award in the Leisure & Hotels category was presented at Mapic, Cannes on 14 November. Getz Entertainment Center will be designed by the Jerde Partnership, the architects of the iconic, award-winning Zlote Tarasy, Poland.

Getz Entertainment Center will open its doors on ArenA Boulevard in Amsterdam in 2011. It will feature a unique combination of entertainment, retail, catering and sports outlets, culture as well as residential accommodation. Extreme sports, a fitness centre, a pop concert hall, discotheque, bowling and game centre, casino and a four-star hotel will all be housed under one roof. The centre forms part of an City of Amsterdam master plan for the Amsterdam-Zuidoost area of the city aimed at creating unique interaction between diverse cultures, activities and experiences.

The new centre is being developed by OMC, a partnership between ING Real Estate the Netherlands, Ballast Nedam and BAM Vastgoed. The building’s organic design created by the Jerde Partnership will form an architectural icon for the area. With open spaces, squares, varying levels, terraces and a ‘floating’ glass roof Getz Entertainment Centre will create a natural balance between the world inside the centre and the world outside the centre on ArenA Boulevard.
